Phew
It took FOUR WEEKS for the stupid radiology office to send my results back to my doctor, and I kept calling and calling... but good news! My thyroid sonogram was NORMAL.

This is great, and it supports the statement then palpation is not a reliable way to determine thyroid size; it can help to find the solid nodules.
Thanks everyone! OT, do you think it matters that when I had my dr's visit when she did the palpation, I also had that bad cold with very swollen glands? I know my lymph glands in my neck were swollen, and I had one swollen node on my right side. That's the side she thought my thyroid was enlarged, too. It may be unrelated, but even at the time I thought it might be the culprit.
