Obamas Prepare to Plant White House Vegetable Garden

On Friday, Michelle Obama will begin digging up a patch of White House lawn to plant a vegetable garden, the first since Eleanor Roosevelt’s victory garden in World War II.

I hope there's a way for the public to access this. I get really sad when there are public vegetable gardens and the fresh, organic, locally grown veggies just disappear and go the an elite few. Some examples of this are Mt. Vernon and their vegetables and livestock as well as when there are vegetable gardens set up for FolkLife pavilions. How are we supposed to educate people if they can't taste the difference and they continually get the message that fresh, local and organic is the purview of the elite.
