Here’s an interesting milestone – I just cut my diabetes medication in half. I was kind of hesitant to because I was getting some higher (for me anyway) readings. I’m finding out that stress really impacts blood sugar. Now that I’ve come back from a marathon of work travel my blood sugar is perfectly fine. Saturday, I decided to take the advice of my nutritionist and cut my blood sugar medication in half. I check my blood sugar three times a day: first thing in the morning; right before dinner to see if the medication I took during breakfast is keeping the blood sugar down and two hours after dinner to see if the medication I took during dinner is working. Doing that Saturday, I was happy to find that my blood sugar levels are A-OK. It appears that the exercise and changes in eating habits really work. My nutritionist is saying if I keep it up I’ll be off the blood sugar medication in a year.
